Clockwork (Wind-up Wind-down)

The Clockwork installation is a collaboration between Performing artist Leo Manzari and I. I edited and recombined the footage that he provided, in order to create an immersive video experience to accompany his performance at the Cutting Room. Clockwork investigates how rhythm and movement abstract the perception of time and space. The installation is divided into two complementary halves, Wind-up was exhibited at the beginning of the performance, while Wind-down was exhibited at the end of the performance. Wind-up counts down to the beginning of the performance, subtly building anticipation as the progression of time is indicated by the cyclical appearance of a spinning clock. Conversely, Wind-down inverts the former video, marking the diminishing time remaining until the closure of the venue, visually regressing time back to the moment the performance began.
