Vanishing points: Lenticular portraits

Can Art Change the perception of our communities?

The Vanishing points portrait series was designed to make the viewer reconsider their notions about The City of Newburgh and take a deeper look at the people who bring the city to life. I achieved this by photographing different people from Newburgh placing them into different locations around the city. One locale that encompasses the stereotypical image of the city, one location that is neutral and a third location that represents a place of joy or solace for the subject of the photo. Using a lenticular frame work, 3 or more images are embedded into the folded prints allowing multiple images to coexist simultaneously. Through the experience of traversing plane of the work, the viewer is asked to shift their position in space and metaphorically shift their opinion about Newburgh as they experience new facets of the city within the artwork and its subjects.
